63rd Anniversary Banquet The Sarnia Minor Athletic Association (S.M.A.A.) held their 63rd Annual Banquet at Sarnia Legion Br 62 on Saturday evening. The S.M.A.A. is a non profit organization run entirely by volunteers, offering sports and activities to the youth of Sarnia and District. Sports that operate under the S.M.A.A are: Baseball, Lacrosse, Girl's Fastball, Football, 10 pin Bowling, Golf and Inline Hockey. It is the aim of the Sarnia Minor Athletic Association to foster the advancement of education in athletics and sports and promote good sportsmanship through athletics among minors in Sarnia and Distric, without restrictions of race, creed, or level of ability. As part of the evening festivities the Chaytor Award was presented. James W. Chaytor was one of the S.M.A.A. founders in 1947. Mr. Chaytor remained active for 18 years in the S.M.A.A. In 1961 a trophy was presented to Mr. Chaytor as "The Man of the Year". The trophy inscription reads: "Presented in Appreciation to James W. Chaytor by His Friends and Associates in the S.M.A.A. Emblematic of his Outstanding Contribution to Minor Athletics". 2009 Chaytor
Award The following year, Jim Chaytor donated his trophy to the S.M.A.A. to be awarded to the other outsanding S.M.A.A men and women. The 2009 Chaytor Award was presented to S.M.A.A. President, Terry Townson.
