Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track and Field
Club hosted a Great Lakes Junior Series
Track and Field Meet on Tuesday with over
100 young athletes from Windsor, London,
Woodstock, Chatham, St Thomas and Sarnia
participating.
The meets are held for all youths taking
part in each of the cities' Junior
Development Summer Camps. Club volunteers
and senior athletes handle the timing,
measuring, scoring and supervision of the
meet. Junior Coaches Laura Gill, Derek
Drouin and Adrienne Payne of the Sarnia Club
organized, scheduled and prepared their
athletes for a great day of competition.
Some of the highlights for the Sarnia Club
included first place finishes for Kyle
Rundle in the senior boys 100m, Zach Taylor
-Atom Boys 100m, Adien Okutinyang- Senior
Girls 100m, Owen Dunn- Mite Boys High Jump
and Melissa Bennett- Atom Girls 400m.
Second place finishes went to Emma Darrach-
Mite Girls 100m and Ashley Bisson - Senior
Girls Long Jump. Marlee Darrach had a 3rd
place finish in the Atom Girls 1500m.
Taking home fourth place finishes were Mike
Coleman- Senior Boys 1500m, Braydon
Wilson-Tyke Boys 1500m, Hunter Kameka- Atom
Girls 1500m, Kristen Hislop- Senior Girls
400m, Heather Baxter- Atom Girls Ball Throw.
Emily Regan placed 5th in the Senior Girls
Ball Throw as did Courtney Tremain in the
Tyke Girls Ball Throw. Tiana Wilson had a
6th place finish for the team in the Atom
Girls 400m and Austin Wilcox also placed 6th
in the Tyke Boys Long Jump.
Unfortunately, heavy rains washed out the
final couple of events. Sarnia's athletes
will take part in the next meet in St.
Thomas next week.
