Jim Sandlak Joins Sting Coaching Staff

 

 Sarnia Sting General Manager Alan Millar announced this afternoon that the club has hired Jim Sandlak to serve as an Assistant Coach.  Sandlak a native of London, Ontario has an extensive hockey background both as a player and an instructor.  Jim and his family currently reside in London.

 

Jim Sandlak – Career Notes

 

·        Spent two seasons with the London Knights (1983 – 1985)

·        Member of the Canadian World Junior Team twice (1985, 1986)

·        Captain of the Canadian World Junior Team (1986)

·        Selected as the Player of the Tournament at the World Junior Championships (1986)

·        Won gold (1985) and silver (1986) at the World Junior Championships

·        Drafted in the first round, 4th overall by the Vancouver Canucks (1985)

·        Spent 11 seasons in the NHL (Vancouver 1985 – 1993, 1995 – 1996, Hartford 1993 – 1995)

·        Named to the NHL All-Rookie Team (1985-1986)

·        Won the Alka Seltzer Award (1989 – 1990) given to the player with the best plus/minus average

·        An instructor with Hockey Canada (1996 – 1997)

·        An instructor with the Athlete Hockey Camp (1985 – 1999)
