The Sting make it two in
a row at home on
Saturday night with a 5
- 2 win over the Ottawa
67's. Ottawa lit
the red light first with
a goal just :21 seconds
into the game.
Jared Gomes answered
back just over 10
minutes later when he
scored his 6th of the
season. Ottawa
went on to score once
again to take the lead,
but Steven Stamkos tied
things up heading into
the final minutes of the
period.
Sarnia took the lead for
the first time and never
looked back on a
Harrison Reed powerplay
goal early in the
second. Steve
Stamkos widen their lead
3 minutes later with
this 7th goal of the
season. Score
after 2 periods of play
Sarnia 4 - Ottawa 2.
In the third Daniel
Lombardi would put the
game out of reach at the
6:30 mark and the period
ended without further
scoring for the Sting to
take their second win in
back to back home games.
Shots on net were even
with 35 each.
Tomi Karhunen was in net
for the Sting.
Ottawa couldn't score on
the powerplay going 0
for 6, the Sting went 1
for 2.
The Sting are now
sitting in 3rd place in
the West Division and
are even with 5 wins - 5
losses.
The look to make it 3 in
a row when they take on
the Erie Otters on
Thursday Oct 18 at the
SSEC with a game start
