Preseason Games
Labour Day Weekend
The
Sarnia Sting were in London on Friday night for
their first exhibition game of the season.
The Sting came up short and took a 4 - 1 loss
with Rookie Cody Hall scoring the lone
goal for the Sting.
On
Saturday it was an entertaining game at the SSEC
when the Sting held their annual Black & White
game. There was a twist to this years
event with several special guests in the lineup.
Courtright native Dustin Jeffrey and Sault Ste.
Marie Greyhound alumni took part in the game
along with Sting alumni Jamie Fraser, Ryan
Wilson and taking to the ice one last time
before departing to join the Tampa Bay Lightning
Steven Stamkos. The White team would come
out on top to take a 10 - 9 win.
Mark
Katic led the way for the white squad with four
goals, while Michael Santini picked up the hat
trick and Jamie Arniel, Daniel Broussard and
Jamie Fraser all scored singles to round out the
scoring for the White Team.
Stamkos put on a show at the SSEC for one final
time scoring three times, Ryan Wilson had a pair
while Cody Hall, Gregg Sutch, Miroslav
Preisinger and Daniel Lombardi rounded out the
scoring for the Black Team.
On a
hot Sunday afternoon the Sting hosted the
Knights for their second preseason game and
evened the series by taking a 7 - 4 win at the
SSEC. The Sting took a 4 - 0 lead in the
first period and held onto the lead to the lead
to take the win.
Justin DiBenedetto was the top scorer in the
game netting 2 goals with singles by Gregg Sutch,
Brent Sullivan, Jesse Stoughton, Steven Reese and Cody Hall.
Andrew Perugini and Johnathon McQueen shared
the duties in net allowing a pair of Knight
goals each.
The
Sting continue their preseason schedule with a
home game on Friday September 5 when the Sting
take on the Plymouth Whalers at 7:30 pm at the
SSEC.
