Sarnia Sting at Peterborough Peters

Sting Buzz
This week the Sarnia Sting added 2 new
players to the roster. The first is forward Chris Beauchamp from
the Brampton Battalion in exchange for a 5th round pick in 2012.
Beauchamp (5.11, 18lbs.) is a native of Midland, Ontario and was the
Battalion’s 3rd round pick in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.
The second player is overage goaltender Dan Spence from Langley BC who
has spent the past four seasons with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western
Hockey League. Spence posted an impressive career WHL regular season
record of 77-49-3-6-2 while posting a goals against average of 2.46.
During his time in Calgary Spence set several franchise records
including most wins, games played, minutes played and saves. Spence
appeared in six games with the Hitmen this season and currently sits
fourth in the WHL with a goals against average of 1.98. The
20-year old from Langley BC was also a top performer for the club off
the ice spending countless hours in the community as he was named the
2007/08 Hitmen Humanitarian of the Year.
With the acquisition of Spence
subsequently the team has announced that goaltender Matt Hache has been
released.
Both new players were in Thursday's line up
against the Peterborough Petes.
Sting take a loss 4 - 3 in OT
In the first game of a 3 game road trip
the Sting first stop of the series was at Peterborough. This will
be the only visit to Peterborough this season for the Sting.
The Stings winning streak of 4 games came to a halt as they lost 4 - 3
in overtime. Both sides scored singles goals in each period to end
regulation time even with 3 each. Scoring for the Sting were Mark
Katick, newly acquired Chris Beauchamp and Jamie Arniel. Dan
Spence was in net for the Sting taking a total of 37 shots. In net
for Peterborough was Jason Missiaen with a total of 35.
Sarnia went 1 for 6 in powerplay
opportunities - Peterborough went 2 for 5.
Next up the Sting are back on the road
Friday night to Ottawa then on Sunday they are in Kingston. |
