Port Huron Completes Perfect Season
In the final week of regular
season action the Megalomaniacs (4-3) looked to stop
their two game losing streak against the Pylons (1-6).
The Megalomaniacs came out strong using a full team
effort in the convincing 15-3 victory.
Port Huron Ultimate Club
(7-0) put their undefeated record to one last test
against Red Army (5-2). Red Army gave a determined
effort to start the game up 4-2. However as Port
Huron’s Chris Osher exited the game with an ankle
injury, the rest of the team picked up the slack. Port
Huron completes the perfect season, winning 15-8.
They are the first team in seven years to achieve this
fete.
The Cookie Monsters (5-2)
had a hard fought match against Hungate’s Mom (3-3).
Hungate’s Mom found the Cookie Monsters defense to be
very tough. Elie Skaff had a strong game offensively
for Hungate’s Mom. The game was evenly match for the
first half, but the Cookie Monsters began at a 2-1 pace
for the second half. Cookie Monsters win 15-11.
The
much anticipated clash between friendly rivals the 2006
Champs Ultimate Suspects (2-4) and the resurgent Totally
Unfit (4-3), ended up being a non-event forfeit as
Ultimate Suspects couldn't get enough players for the
game. (15-0 for Totally Unfit).
All was not lost though, as
the teams swapped some players for a "funsy" game.
Ultimate Suspects' Kevin Brown and Brian Jubenville
displayed their running, diving and handling skills with
last minute assistance from Kristy Russel and the disc
handling, high jumping Jordan Juschka. Totally Unfit's
most improved Kevin Slater continued his good form, as
did 2006 Most Improved Karen Slater with some great
positioning and the giggling, Jen Graham. The slippery
conditions allowed for some spectacular layouts by
George "nice cut" Fletcher and Chris McCloskey. Star
rookie Scott Hibbard and Jeff Rathburn continued their
great disc handling form and Eric deJong's fitness and
enormous leap enabled him to out position and out play
all comers. |
