The St.
Clair Colts showed why they
were the elite team in
LSSAA senior boys basketball
when they hosted Chatham-Kent in the
SWOSSA semi-final game
yesterday at home.
The Colts out scored
C-K
25-11 in the first quarter and never
looked back, winning 74-44.
"Well the scouting report said that
if we pressured them they couldn't
be able to with stand it and
thats what we did," head
coach Peter
Kiaja said.
The Colts pressured the Colts so
much in the second half that the
Colts caused 13 turnovers in the
second corner alone.
They out scored
C-K
23-8 in the quarter.
Again Jim
Purves led the Colts in
scoring. He drained seven
three-pointers in the game including
four in the first quarter.
He accumulated 25 throughout the
game.
"We were able to play everybody,"
Kiaja said. "It allows
everyone to stay crisp."
Taylor
Perry put an explanation point on
the victory with a thunderous dunk
near the end of the game.
The Colts will hope to have the same
energy when they host Windsor in the
SWOSSA final next Wednesday.
"The two teams from Windsor (Windsor
Herman and Windsor Riverside) are
very good," said
Kaija. "Whichever one of
those teams wins is going to give us
a real battle. Herman beat us in a
tournament earlier this year," he
added. "We’ll have to be very good
to win next week."
Kiaja said that he doesn't
know the exact time for the game
yet.
