The Jr. Vikings football team celebrated
Homecoming with a 56-7 win over the SCITS
Bluebombers.

The
Vikings had the only score in the
first quarter when Jon Vanderveen
ran the ball in from 35 yards out.
Tyler Annett converted the extra
point. The second quarter saw the
bulk of the scoring for the Vikings.
Vanderveen scored first in the 2nd
on a 40 yard catch and run, followed
a few minutes later by Cole Boersma
on a 15 yard run. At the 7:00 minute
mark, Jace Felton caught a short
pass from Carter Winberg and ran the
ball 50 yards for a touchdown. With
two minutes remaining in the first
half, after Jon Vanderveen broke out
for a 50 yard run, Carter Winberg
kept the ball on a short run for a
touchdown. Tyler Annett brought the
half to a close with a 90 yard punt
return for a TD. Annett made good on
all extra point attempts in the 2nd
quarter. |
Vikings led
42-0 at halftime.
The Vikings struck twice
in the second half, once on a huge, 80 yard run
from Cole Boersma, and again on a 45 yard run by
Jacob Packer. A two point conversion after a
high snap, and a Tyler Annett extra point kick
gave the Vikings a 56-0 lead going into the
final quarter. The Bluebombers, who put up a
strong fight for four quarters, made it into the
endzone near the end of the final quarter, to
make the final score Vikings 56, Bluebombers 7.
Special mention for the
Vikings' Brett Baarschers who had a great game
at the nose-guard spot, and to Chris Lachance
who was a solid presence at the defensive end.
The Vikings
are in action again on Thursday, October 23rd,
at 3:00pm.
