Vikings 18
vs Irish 6
The Northern Jr. Vikings
football team defeated a spirited St. Pat's
squad for their second win of the season.
The Vikings scored the
only points of the first quarter on a Jon
Ravenhorst throw to Tyler Annett for a run into
the endzone. Annett kicked the extra point.
Early in the second
quarter, the Vikings struck again when Annett
kicked a field goal after a long Vikings' drive.
Midway through the second,
the Vikings' Jake Williams crushed a punt deep
into the St. Pat's endzone, leading to a safety
for the Vikings. The score was 11-0.
Inside the three minute
mark of the 2nd quarter, Ravenhorst again
connected on a long pass, this time with Jake
Williams, who ran into the endzone for a
touchdown. Annett added the extra point.
The Irish scored their
lone touchdown at the end of the first half on a
20 yard run. The extra point attempt was
blocked.
The second half saw a lot
of back and forth, but no scoring. The Vikings
suffered a setback when Jon Ravenhorst left the
game with an injury in the 4th quarter. Carter
Winberg came in to fill the quarterback position
for the Vikings. Chris LaChance played a stellar
game at the defensive end position.
