The LCCVI
Lancers girl's hockey team claimed
another championship for the Petrolia
claiming their third LSSAA title
after defeating the St. Patrick Fighting
Irish 4 - 2 in the Championship game
held in Petrolia yesterday.

Led by
solid goaltending the Lancers fell
behind early but managed to battle back
and eventually win the game.
"Both teams played very well," Lancers
assistant coach Ted Sylvester said after
the game.
"We are happy about the win."
Laura
Lambert, Jill Vandenbergine, Kendra
Broad and Karly Dobbin scored for the
Lancers.
Mellisa Kelly and Kimber Williams scored
for St. Pats.

"They are going to go to OFSAA," Irish
head coach Frank Torti said of the
Lancers.
"It was a hard fought game. We took a
lot more penalties than we are used to.
I think we got tired at the end and
couldn't come back."

Petrolia
will now play The Pines next week.
"I think that it is the system we have
in Petrolia," Sylvester said of the fact
that LCCVI teams seem to dominate in the
LSSAA hockey rankings.
"The coaches are very good and the
player are willing to learn." LCCVI
isn't the only LSSAA team that still
have hopes for OFSAA.
ST. Clair will host a SWOSSA semi-final
game next week against the Chatham-Kent
representative.
