A/AA Provincial Championship

The St. Clair Colts
Ladies Hockey team are in Orillia
competing at the OFSAA A/AA Provincial
Championships where after two games they
are dominating with 7 - 0 wins in each
game.
After a
tough start to their season as they
struggled to get enough players for
league play due to multiple
sports competing for players, they
finally formed a team and went on to
earned a spot at the finals.
The Colts are ranked 12th in the
tournament.
The first
game of the finals they met up with the
host team from Park Street Collegiate
(16th) at the Brian Orser arena.
After 1 period of play the girls went up
2 - 0 on goals. The first goal was
scored by Mackenzie Dark from Megan
Moore and Brianne Lisabeth. Moore
scored the second goal assisted by
Amanda Grennan.
In the
second Mallory Mullin scored her first
goal assisted by Natasha Spain.
Megan Brinksman added goal #3 assisted
by Moore and Brooke Clubb went in alone
to give the Colts the 5 - 0 lead after
two periods of play.
Third period action saw the ladies score
two more goals the first by Natasha
Spain from Mackenzie Dark and Amanda
Grennan and the final goal scored by
Mallory Mullin (2) from Megan Brinksman
and Megan Moore earning her 4th point of
the game.
In game two
they went up against the 8th ranked team
from Lester B. Pearson Secondary School
in Burlington. The ladies
dominated the first period and went up 4
- 0. Jenna Coultes scored the
first goal assisted by Ashley Dunn and
Megan Brinksman. Brooke Clubb
scored the next two goals with Ashley
Dunn assisting on the first goal and
Mallory Mullin and Keegan Clatworthy
assisting on the second. Clubb is
in her final year and considered one of
the best in the province.
In the second period Keegan Clatworthy
scored assisted by Mallory Mullin and
Mackenzie Dark to take the 5 - 0 lead
and Megan Brinksman added goal #6 with
Clatworthy and Moore assisting.
Third period
added more icing on the cake with a
single goal by Megan Brinksman scoring
her second goal of the game from Amanda
Grennan and Mullin.
Leading point after two games - Meagan
Moore 6, Mallory Mullin 5 (also plays
net), Megan Brinksman 5, Brooke Clubb 4,
Mackenzie Dark 3.
Today the
ladies will go up against Sudbury's
Notre - Dame College who are ranked #1
in Ontario. This game will seed
the teams for the playoffs. |
