Quarter Finals
St. Clair Colts vs College
Notre-Dame Sudbury
After
regulation play the St. Clair Colts lead
their division by a point differential.
St. Clair and Notre Dame each ended up
with 5 pts. each however the seeding was
decided on goal differential as both
sides went 2 wins, 0 loss, 1 tie, St
Clair had 15 goals for 1 goal against
for a difference of 14 whereas Sudbury
had 15 goals with 2 goals against for 13
goal difference. The Colts were
seeded #4th heading into the playoff
round and Notre-Dame (ranked #1 in
Ontario) was seeded #5.
The tournament scheduling had the top
two teams of each division playing
against each other in the quarter finals
to decide who would move on to the semi
finals. Because of this the St.
Clair and Sudbury would meet again for
their second game in a row after a hard
battle the day before that ended in a 1
- 1 tie.
In the
quarter final game Sudbury scored early
in the first and went on and score two
more to end the first period leading 3 -
0. Second period action saw
neither side scoring and in the third
the Colts clawed their way back and
scored twice with Brianne Lisabeth
scoring the first goal assisted by
Kaitlyn Filip and Hayley Vokes at 1:58
into the period. At 7:44 Danielle
LaChappelle scored the Colts second goal
unassisted. As the game was coming
to an end the Colts pulled their goalie
but were unable to score the tying goal
to end their game with a disappointing 3
- 2 loss.
Sudbury went on to the semi finals
and played St. Joseph's High School
from St. Thomas (seeded #1) where
they lost 4 - 2. Sudbury now moves
on to the Bronze Medal Game where
they will go against ES La Citadelle
from Cornwall.
For the Colts they
will return home. Despite the
loss they can hold their heads high
after their shaky start at the
beginning of the season that ended
with four well played games in the
Provincial Finals, where they won
the first two in 7 - 0
shutouts and then tying the #1
ranked team in Ontario and then
losing to that same team by a narrow
3 - 2 margin. Well Done
Ladies!
