Despite a
third period charge by the McGregor
(from Chatham) the St. Clair Colts
advanced to the girls hockey "A/AA"
SWOSSAA championship next week in
Windsor with a 5-2 victory.
"We started out really well scoring the
games first four goals," St. Clair head
coach Mike Partridge said.
"In the third we had a mental laps
(allowing two goals). We told the girls
during the intermission not to let up,
but they did a little."
McGregor
played with only seven skaters.
"We played many games like that,"
Partridge said of his team who skated
with 11 during the SWOSSAA semi-final
game.
"This was actually the first time we
have had this many this season,"
Partridge said.
"Some girls missed because of volleyball
practice, shopping and work. Attendance
has definitely been an issue."
Mallory Mullin scored the games first
two goals for the Colts in the first.
Keegan
Clatworthy and Mackenzie Dark assisted
on Mullin;s first at the 3:36 mark of
the first.
Brooke Clubb received the lone assist on
Mullin's second.
Clubb scored the Colt's third goal
unassisted.
"She has been a very strong player for
our team for five-years," Partridge said
of Clubb who is the teams captain.
"She came back this season after a foot
injury and been a dominate player for
us."
Megan Brinksman gave the Colts a 4-0
lead before the end of the second.
Dark and Megan Moore picked up assists.
McGregor scored two goals 1:23 apart in
the third to pull the game to 4-2 before

The Colts were led to victory by Kaitlyn
Filip between the pipes.
"She has been a great goalie for us for
four-years," Partridge said. "She has
been the starter from day one and has
played great."

representative early next week in
Windsor.
The winner of the SWOSSAA final will
move onto OFFSA later this month.
