Senior Girls Champions
St.
Christopher Cyclones
This was
the fourth year that Northern and
St. Christopher met in the LSSAA
Girls finals and the first time in
the 4 years that St. Christopher
took the title.
In the
girls semi finals the #3 seed St.
Christopher defeated #2 seeded LCCVI
Lancers to earn a spot in the final
round.
After regulation time both sides
were even 1 - 1. Jenn Spinozzi
scored the St. Christopher goal and
Nikki Arthur scored for Northern.
After regulation time the game went
into overtime where a winner wasn't
decided and sent the game into a
shoot out. In an exciting
shoot out the score was tied 3 - 2
after 5 shooters. It went down to
the 8th shooter where Northern came
up empty and Taylor Chrapko found
the opening to give the St.
Christopher Cyclones the win for the
first time in 4 years.
Outstanding goaltending from both
sides with Alysha Puglsey in net for
Northern and Jenn Rogers taking the
win for St. Christopher.
The Cyclones are coached by Frank
Brennan and Daniela Azzolina and
after the game Coach Brennan who was
extremely happy with the outcome
said, "this was the most intense
game we have played all year, we
were a little short handed but the
girls played hard whistle to
whistle. Northern is a hard
team to beat and I'm proud of our
girls accomplishments".
Both
teams now move on and will play for
the SWOSSA title in the AA and AAA
divisions. The semi finals for
the girls will be played in Sarnia
with Date/time/location to be
