The Northern Jr. Vikings
capped off an undefeated season by capturing the
LSSAA Jr. Football title with a 24-6 win over a
spirited St. Pat's squad.
The first quarter saw some
terrific back and forth football, but the score
remained deadlocked at zero.
Early in the 2nd quarter,
after a long drive, the Vikings' Jacob Packer
ran the ball into the endzone from 2 yards out.
Paul Kaija kicked the extra point.
Five minutes later, the
Irish struck back with a touchdown of their own,
but the Vikings' defense came on strong to block
the extra point attempt.
The first half ended with
the Vikings on top, 7-6.
The only score in the 3rd
quarter came when Paul Kaija kicked a field goal
for the Vikings.
Despite a strong 4th
quarter effort by the Irish, the Vikings scored
two more majors to put the game safely out of
reach. Curtis Robichaud ran the ball in for a
touchdown, and Packer added his second major of
the day. Kaija made good on both extra point
attempts.
The game ended with the
Vikings on top, 24-6, and head coach Rob Pecora
doused with a celebratory water cooler shower,
