LSSAA Boys Hockey Champions
Northern Vikings
Northern 2 Petrolia (LCCVI) 1
On Tuesday in Petrolia the
Northern Vikings defeated the Petrolia LCCVI Lancers 2-1 to
win the LSSAA Boys Hockey Championship.
Northern got the lead late in the first period when Tyler
Peters received a breakaway pass from Spencer Houlihan.
Northern then extended their lead at the 10 minute mark of
the second period with Tyler Peters second goal of the
contest.
With an early goal from
LCCVIs Tyler Fraser in the third period it was up to senior
Northern goalie Jordan Lockhart to shut the door. With some
spectacular saves from Lockhart and a few missed
opportunities from Petrolia the Vikings were able to hold
the Lancers off for the victory.
Even though
the Vikings took the win, Matt Warwick of
the Lancers made many outstanding saves to shut the
door on the Vikings.
Northern will
now face the Kent representative on Tuesday March 7 in the
SWOSSAA semi-final.
