The BlueWater Jr. Blaze
Premier U-11 team took the field against their cross
town rivals the Sarnia Fury on Saturday afternoon. The
Blaze pressured the Fury early. Dilly Ohuegbe raced
Taylor Janzen the Fury sweeper for the ball resulting in
a Blaze corner kick. Nik VanBilsen took the corner, the
ball was headed on to Ohuegbe but Josh Elsley the Fury
keeper was there for the Fury. The Blaze continued to
battle but Elsley was solid for the Fury.
Half way through the first
half, the Fury forced the play into the middle of the
BlueWater team. A hard foul resulted in a Fury direct
kick. Anthony Fazzalari drifted the ball high over
Josh Graham in the BlueWater net for a 1-0 Fury lead.
The second half started
with BlueWater again dominating the play. Ohuegbe carried
the ball and pass back to Matthew Doidge, a hard shot
was saved by Elsley. BlueWater kept pressing and another
hard drive by Matt Cservik was turned away by Elsley.
The Fury were having
difficulty mounting any type of attack. Marcus Dusseault
of BlueWater won the ball in mid field, a quick pass out
to Dylan Wardell on the wing who flicked the ball on to
a charging Ryan Lyle. Lyle spotted Ohuegbe who drilled a
shot just wide and the score remained 1-0 Fury.
Late in the contest the
Fury were able penetrate against the Blaze defenders.
Craig Gunn of the Fury made a nice run down the
wing. Gunn's shot was saved by Josh Graham but the Fury
were awarded a corner kick. Their third compared to
BlueWaters 13. Fazzalari took the corner for the Fury
and the slippery ball skipped off the hands of Graham in
the BlueWater net. Graham batted the ball away, but the
referee ruled the ball had crossed the line. 2-0 Fury.
BlueWater was unable to
finish against the Fury, outshooting their opponents
20-3 but coming away with a 2-0 defeat. |
