The Petrolia
U12 Oil Barons ended their 2007 LKDL
soccer season in the semi final match up
between the 2nd place Corunna
Wildcats. Petrolia got on the scoreboard
early in the first half as Brittany
Sefton broke
free from the Corunna defenders and
trickled the ball past the keeper.
Petrolia managed to hold the lead until
about 5 minutes left in the second half
as Corunna pressed hard to tie the game
1-1. With less than 1 minute to go,
Corunna put a ball over the Oil Barons
keeper’s head to take the lead 2-1.
Petrolia marked their players and
defended the game extremely well. The
Petrolia goal keeper, MacKenzie Knight
held them in the game until the very
end. Corunna will now play
Wallaceburg
next week in the finals. The
Petrolia Girls finished their season off
with a final tournament in Stratford on
the weekend. (highlights to
