Justin Riley-Meyer Adds 5 for A
Come From Behind Win!
Langtree’s
second game of the season didn’t
start out as promising as the
first game and it wasn’t until
late in the first half that many
of the spectators believed there
was much chance
Langtree
would defeat the emerald-coloured
St. Michael Knights of Columbus
(SMKC).
Within the first six minutes of
the game SMKC were up by two
goals. At about the half-way
mark in the first half,
Langtree’s
Denver Taylor put forth a great
effort and slipped one past the
opposing team’s goalie to make
it 2 – 1 for SMKC. In a very
one-sided effort, SMKC bombarded
Priyank
Patel (Langtree’s
goalie) with multiple shots and
were able to capitalize and add
two more goals to make it 4 -1
for SMKC. Just before the end
of the first half, it seemed
that
Langtree was down and
out, but Justin Riley-Meyer
wasn’t ready to quit yet, as he
added 2 goals within two minutes
of each other to finish the
first half with
Langtree
down by only one goal making it
4 - 3.
The second effort goals added by
Justin gave
Langtree the boost they
needed as they came out flying
in the second half.
Langtree
gave up one goal early in the
second half to make it 5 – 3 for
SMKC. Denver Taylor made a good
pass to Justin Riley-Meyer who
touched it in to close the gap.
On a two pass effort, Chase
McRae fed Justin Riley-Meyer who
dumped it off to Denver Taylor
to add yet another
Langtree
goal to tie the game. SMKC
again applied the pressure with
multiple attacks but were unable
to capitalize on their
opportunities due to
Langtree’s
great defensive efforts and, in
particular, extra defensive
efforts by
Vandit Patel and steady
goal keeping by
Priyank
Patel. Justin Riley-Meyer added
another two goals to seal the
game and take home the win
beating the SMKC 7 – 5.
Late in the first half and the
entire second half the
Langtree
players displayed
great character as
they didn’t give up and showed
it with A Come From Behind Win.
