Langtree
Couldn’t Capitalize
In a
well-fought battle,
Henne’s
Jewellery
defeated
Langtree 6 - 3. However,
game play and, in particular,
first-half
game play by the
navy-shirted
Langtree
players showed a different game
than that indicated by the final
score.
After five minutes of game play
in the first half,
Langtree’s
Justin Riley-Meyer scored to
make it 1 – 0. The
Langtree
players continued to apply
pressure, all the while
displaying good positional and
passing plays. At about halfway
through the first half, Tim
MacNaughton of
Langtree
was awarded a penalty shot
wherein he pushed the ball past
the goalie to make it 2 – 0.
Langtree’s
defensive play was close to
flawless and shutdown all of
Henne’s
Jewellery’s
opportunities enabling
Langtree
to finish the half up 2 – 0.
The second half told a different
story as the
Henne’s
Jewellery
players took the field to play
and tied the game at two apiece,
with two goals in quick
succession.
Langtree’s
Denver Taylor found the net to
make the game 3 – 2. However,
in spite of some great
goaltending by Logan
Howes
and lots of opportunities for
Langtree
to score,
Henne’s
Jewellery
replied with 4 unanswered goals
to finish the game and defeat
Langtree
6 – 3.
Right to the end it was a good
team effort and a well-fought
battle but
Langtree couldn’t
capitalize on their second half
opportunities.
