Sarnia Fury U-10's Advance To
Playoffs
The
Sarnia Fury U-10 boys soccer team
advanced to the playoffs with a victory
in their final regular season game over
the Bluewater U-9 team in Lambton /Kent
district soccer action. The Fury team
finished the regular season with a
record of five wins versus seven losses.
In
the game at Heritage Park Wednesday
night the Fury team came out a little
sluggish and allowed a goal early in the
game at the 7 minute mark. This seemed
to serve as a wake up call for the Fury
squad as they then started to play to
their potential and took control of the
game. Good use of the field and some
good ball movement led to a goal when Trever
Forsten scored his first goal of the
season to tie the game at the 15 minute
mark. Then minutes later John Anthony
Filia scored on a perfectly placed shot
to the bottom left corner of the goal to
put Sarnia up 2 - 1. Trever Forsten scored
off a scrambled corner kick at the 30
minute mark to put the Fury up 3 - 1 at
the half time.
The
Fury team came out determined to finish
what they started and controlled the
play for a majority of the second half.
Strong work by Jordan Hawkes, Zackarie
Hall, sawyer Osborne and Jakob
Washington helped keep the pressure on
the young Bluewater team. Troy Hall
played his strongest game of the season
and scored at the 50 minute mark of the
game on a nice shot that made it over
the Bluewater netminder. Bluewater
scored their second goal of the game a
minute later to close the score to 4-2.
The
team would like to extend a special

The
Sarnia Fury team now faces the Bluewater
Blue team on Wednesday night, Aug. 15 at
Heritage Park. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
This is a semi final game with the
winner advancing to the final to be
played the following week. The other
semi final has Bluewater White facing
off against Chatham in Chatham. It is
encoraging to see 3 of 4 teams that
qualified for the playoffs are from
Sarnia.
