Fury U11 Middlesex Invitational
Finalists

Sarnia Fury
travelled to Strathroy at the weekend to play in the
Middlesex Invitational tournament.
Sarnia got off to a slow start with a 2 - 0 loss against
Oakridge.
Fury then played Sault Civics from Sault St. Marie.
Sarnia this time got off to a great start with Declan
Mayo scoring 2 goals early. Both times getting in behind
the Civics defence to shoot Past the keeper. Civics
managed to pull one back before half time. After an even
second half Sarnia was once again caught on the break
and Civics ran in for the equalizer. Final score 2 - 2.

In the
Quarter Final Sarnia played Southend. Sarnia
carried most of the play. Dylan Caron broke
Through the Southend defence and slotted
home the opener for Sarnia.
Once again Sarnia was caught late in the
game and Southend equalized. With a 1 - 1
final score the game went to penalty kicks.
Both teams could feel the pressure as Sarnia
missed their first 3 kicks, Josh Elsley for
Sarnia was solid In goal to keep Sarnia in
play. Craig Gunn scored for Sarnia and
Declan Mayo scored the winner for Sarnia to
win 1 - 1 (2 -1 win on penalties). |
Semi Final saw Sarnia once again play Oakridge. Sarnia
looked a different team from the previous day And
battled hard. Konnor Harris took the lead for Sarnia
shooting a low hard shot past the Oakridge goalie.
Once again Sarnia couldn't hold the lead and Oakridge
equalized. Sarnia battled hard and once again the Game
going to penalty kicks with a 1 - 1 tie. Anthony
Fazzalari, Craig Gunn and Declan Mayo were Sarnia's
Scorers and Josh Elsley again strong in goal. Sarnia win
(3 - 2 on penalties).

Sarnia now
faced Byron in the Final. Sarnia again
battled hard and competed well. Halfway
through the 1st half Byron took a commanding
lead with 3 quick goals in a five minute
spell to end the half 3 - 0. Carrying
injuries And tiredness Sarnia fought to the
end taking the game to Byron, but unable to
beat the keeper. 3 - 0 final Byron win
Tournament.
Great display from Sarnia Fury. Sarnia's
coaches are very proud of the teams hard
work and efforts Over the weekend. The team
battled very hard making it to their second
final of the season.

Guelph Royals at the Dante Club.
