Sarnia Fury U11 Semi Finalists in
Waterloo
Sarnia Fury U11 travelled to Waterloo at the weekend for
this years Waterloo Invitational tournament.
Sarnia faced a strong group as they drew Mississauga,
Windsor Caboto and Guelph in their pool.
Sarnia V Mississauga
1st half action saw Mississauga carry the play and
taking an early 1 - 0 lead.
Sarnia's back 4 of Hodgins, Ciccarelli, Janzen,
Taraborrelli and Elsley in goal, handled the pressure
well as the half ended.
Second half Sarnia stepped it up and pressed for the
equaliser. Konnor Harris was brought down in the box and
Anthony Fazzalari slotted home the penalty to tie the
game.
Sarnia kept up the
pressure and Craig Gunn scored the winner curling a
right foot shot high past the keeper. 2 - 1 Sarnia win.
Sarnia V Windsor Caboto
Great display from Sarnia as they dominated from start
to finish. Durco, Fazzalari, Stamos and O'Neill battled
hard in midfield and once again Sarnia's defence giving
nothing away. Sarnia were rewarded when Ryan Kennedy
sent the speedy Dylan Caron down the right, Caron's pass
found Konnor Harris at the 6 yard line to slot home the
shot for the 1 - 0 lead at half.
As the referee blow for 2nd half, Richael O'Neill won
possession and send a great ball out to Craig Gunn,
Gunn's perfect cross found Dylan Caron on the edge of
the 18 yard box who sent a brilliant lobbing header past
the Windsor keeper to stun the Caboto team. Sarnia kept
up the pressure and showed some great passing soccer.
With a few minutes to go Kraig Durco sealed the game
with a great shot on the volley to give Sarnia a 3 - 0
win. Josh Elsley completing the shutout for Sarnia.
Sarnia V Guelph
1st half action saw Guelph take the lead. With Sarnia
expecting an offside call, Guelph's long ball through
the middle found their forward clean through to shot
past Elsley in goal.
Both teams created chances and Sarnia were awarded a
penalty when Trevor McEwan was taken down. Fazzalari's
kick was saved but managed to slot home his rebound.
Final score 1 - 1.
Sarnia win their division with 7 points from a possibly
9.
Semi final Sarnia V Brampton
Sarnia had no answer to the pace and movement of the
Brampton team. Early on Sarnia created chances with
Harris and Caron working well. Brampton soon took over
and Sarnia found themselves under constant pressure,
evenually losing 6 - 0.
Once again Sarnia having a great tournament weekend
winning their division in a very tough tournament.
Sarnia's coaches very proud of the teams efforts.
