Fury takes crown in Overtime!
A group
of determined young men fought off a 2 goal deficit
to win the U16 District crown in dramatic overtime
fashion. Down 0-2 at the half Sarnia unleashed a
Fury in the first minutes of the second half and
closed the gap with a goal by Jordan Johnson at the
47th minute mark. Constant pressure during the
remaining 2nd half finally broke down Wallaceburg
and caused them to pull Dylan McAnulty down in the
box at the 87th minute. This allowed Jeff Schroeter
to touch in a PK past the sprawling keeper. Overtime
ensued, and the Fury put the ball in at the 92nd
minute mark after a shot by Zac Vanreenen was
stopped by the keeper with a huge rebound landing on
the foot of Jared Dally who hammered the ball into
the mesh from the 18. Wallaceburg were unable to
respond and the game ended with the ref's whistle at
the 100th minute. Dispite playing with 14 underage
players (15 year olds) and only 3 16 year olds this
group of U16 men hoisted the cup.
