Mississauga, Ont -  The U18 Sarnia Spirit travelled to Mississauga over the Victoria Day weekend to compete in the Dixie Showcase tournament, where they faced some stiff competition.

They faced off first against the Gloucester Hornets who play in the East Region Soccer League. Both teams battled to a scoreless first half, but at the end of the match the Hornets came away with a 1-0 win.

The second team to meet up with the Spirit were an OYSL team from Aurora, who play in the East Zone. Again both teams played to a scoreless first half and again the Spirit lost this match to the Aurora Stingers 2-0.

For their third and final game, the Spirit faced another OYSL team, the North Mississauga Avalanche who also play in the East Zone. The Avalanche came out hard and strong and found themselves with a 2-0 win. There were lots of opportunities in all 3 games but the Spirit were not able to capitolize on them.

This was good preparation for the team as they will face many of these teams again during Ontario Cup action in July.
