U11 Bluewater Boys
Soccer Team face Tough Opponents
May 12, 2008
In a tough match against the
heavily favoured North London Hotspurs, the U11
Bluewater Boys Soccer team was defeated 3-0. Playing in
Sarnia at St Clair High School the local Boys put up a
valiant effort falling to one of the top teams in the
Province.
Opening the game Bluewater took the Ball and Jordan
Walsh drove the field for a scoring opportunity. Back
and forth play through to the mid point of the first
half kept both squads on their toes. Midfielders and
wingers Chris Docherty, Andrew Shortt, Adam Craievich
and Jared Borque kept contending for the midfield
against a superior team. But in the 18th
minute a defensive miscue resulted in a direct kick for
London from just outside the 18 yard box which was
quickly converted into a goal. Five minutes later 2
quick goals; one from a corner that wasn’t cleared and
the second from an outside shot; gave the strong London
team a 3-0 lead at the half.
A strong showing from Bluewater to start the second half
generated a scoring chance for Joey Eddelsyon-Taylor of
Bluewater but exceptional goalkeeping was the only
reason Bluewater didn’t score. The offensive
combination/talents of Blake Maxfield, Tim Kaldeway and
Marco DiFederico racked up the scoring chances but the
London goaltender met the challenges. Prolonged
pressure from London mid way through the half was dealt
with by Goalie Nick Paquette and his defense Ethan
Shackleton, Cole Lauzon, Dale Mizener, Christian Mauti,
and Adriano Fuoco.

The team’s next game is
Monday, May 19th, at St Clair High School
against the cross town rivals, Sarnia Fury at 6:45 p.m.
