U11 Bluewater Boys defeat Sarnia Fury 7-1 in LDYSL
Soccer
In a Victoria Day match at
St Clair High School the U11 Bluewater Boys Soccer team
defeated Sarnia Fury 7-1 in LDYSL play. A more
experienced Bluewater team took control of the game
early and attacked often to defeat the gallant Fury
squad.
In the early part of the
game a hard shot stopped by the Fury netminder
ricocheted back into the net off the face of Tim
Kaldeway. This was followed quickly by a goal from
Jordan Walsh. Aggressive play by Bluewater had two
goals and many opportunities called back via the offside
rule. Dominating play in the wings and midfield for
Bluewater was led by Marco DiFederico, Chris Docherty,
Jared Bourque, and Adam Craievich. Later in the half a
cross to Joey Eddleston-Taylor resulted in the third
Bluewater goal taking Bluewater into halftime with a 3-0
lead.
Opening the second half a
determined Bluewater controlled the play. An unselfish
pass led to Ethan Shackleton scoring the fourth
Bluewater goal. Shortly after, a high hard shot from 25
yards by Blake Maxfield extended the Bluewater lead to
5. But Fury responded with their own marker in a goal
mouth scramble where Bluewater failed to clear the
ball. Two goals later in the half, by Dale Mizener and
Jordan Walsh’s second of the game, closed out the
scoring, resulting in the 7-1 Bluewater victory. Solid
defense by Adriano Fuoco, Cole Lauzon, and Andrew Shortt
contributed to the win. Stopping goals is just as
important as scoring and appreciated by winning goalie
Nick Paquette. A valiant Fury team played well and will
be tough opponents for all who face them in the future.
The team’s next game is
Monday, June 2nd, at St Clair High School
against the North London Lightning Spurs at 6:45 p.m.
The Bluewater Boys U11 soccer team are coached by Paul
Craievich, Roy Eddleston and Bob Docherty and are
