Sarnia Spirit (2) vs. LaSalle Stompers (2)
July 6, 2008

Sarnia Spirit were ready for the rematch against LaSalle traveling to their home field, for their 2nd meeting this season.  Sarnia suffered a tough call early after 5 minutes of play getting called for a trip just inside the 18 yard box.  LaSalle would take a penalty kick to find the far corner of the net as Spirit goaltender Mackenzie Turner attempted a tough save but to no avail.  At the 32 min. mark, Sarnia attempted to tie up the score, Lilia Pasqual fired up a perfectly placed pass for Kristen Parkes who stopped the ball, controlled it and got a beautiful shot off only to find LaSalle's goal keeper there for the save.  After 35 min. of play, LaSalle was ahead by 1.  Only 2 min. into the 2nd half, LaSalle was able to penetrate the Spirit defence and let a shot rip outside the 18 yard box which rolled off of Mackenzie's hands who was just short in making the stop.  At the 7 min. mark of the 2nd half, Sidney Weiss took a corner kick and Alicia DaSilva was there to attempt a header into the opposing net, the Keeper could not hang on to the ball, the ball came loose and Shae-Lynn van Gassen was there to tap the ball into the net for Sarnia's first goal.  With 21 minutes into 2nd half play, just outside the 18 yard box, Alicia DaSilva would fire the ball into the left corner of LaSalle's net giving Sarnia the equalizer.   Both sides fought hard to see the go ahead goal, but at the final whistle, the goal would remain tied at 2 apiece.
