Sarnia Spirit (3) vs. Dorchester (2)
During their first meeting this
season, Sarnia and Dorchester were fairly evenly matched.
Several scoring opportunities presented for Sarnia, however,
Dorchester was able to find the back of the net first.
After 35 min. of play Dorchester led 1 to 0. The coaches
gave the girls some encouraging feedback at half time to
find the Spirit come out firing early and just 2 minutes
into play Sidney Weiss was fed some beautiful passes from
Shae-Lynn van Gassen and Alicia DaSilva striking the ball
into the net. At the 5 minute marker, from half field,
Sidney Weiss fed the ball to Shae-Lynn van Gassen who in
turn perfectly placed the ball for Alicia DaSilva for the
2nd goal of the game. The Spirit were now leading with a
score of 2-1. This did not hamper Dorchester's efforts
though, as they tried relentlessly to put one away. At the
16 minute marker in the 2nd half, Alicia DaSilva fired a
hard shot into the corner of the net for the 3rd goal of the
game. Mackenzie Turner was playing net for Sarnia and was
able to stop several shots from the oncoming Dorchester
attackers. At 22min. into the 2nd half, Kristi Pugsley
retreated back from defence to help Mackenzie by kicking the
ball out of the net and saving what could have been
Dorchester's 2nd goal of the game. Sarnia's defenders played
exceptionally well and with less than 2 minutes of play,
Dorchester was able to put one more away. Sarnia took the
game 3-2.

Sarnia Spirit (0) vs. Waterloo (6)
The Sarnia girls were up against some tough
competition in this game against Waterloo. Waterloo struck
early when an unmarked player turned and fired in a shot
against Sarnia goaltender Danielle Graham. Sarnia
continued to fight back, but were unable to penetrate the
tough defence of Waterloo. Nearing the end of the 1st half,
the strong offensive play of Waterloo allowed them a 2-0
lead. Sarnia continued to battle back but just could not
find their opponent's net. Danielle Graham persevered on
and was able to come up with some very nice saves. Waterloo
attackers did not give up and continued on ending the game
in their favour. Sarnia suffered a 6-0 loss.
