2008 “Kick-off” Cup
The girls headed to Tillsonburg for the League's
"Kick Off Cup" tournament May 17th. In the opening game vs.
London United Typhoons, the girls had a very challenging game
and ended in a 1-0 loss. Danielle Graham played net for the
Spirit, making some nice saves and allowing just one goal.
The second game found them up against some tough
competition against the LaSalle Stompers. Sarnia played a very
defensive game with a lot of back and forth play ending up in
a 0-0 tie. Mackenzie Turner earned the shutout for Sarnia.
After 2 games in the preliminary round, Sarnia placed 4th out of
7 teams and advanced to playoff round against Kitchener.
In the playoff game against Kitchener, the wind
and the heavy rain played havoc as the girls tried to come up
with a goal, but to no avail. In the 2nd half, Kitchener was
able to find the back of our net to come away with the 1-0 win
and preventing Sarnia from advancing further. The girls played
very well this weekend and should be extremely proud of their
teamwork and effort put forth
