Petrolia
Wed, May 21
The Girls played a great match
with possession and shots on goal significantly leaning in
their favour. The Spirit are showing significant signs of
improvement in their all around team play and are clearly
becoming much more comfortable as a unit.
The Sarnia Spirit jumped out to
a quick 1 goal lead in the early stages of the 1st
half with a high quality strike from #15 Brittany Sefton,
assisted by #12 Maria Vani. Sarnia Spirit Goal-Keeper in
the 1st half, #16 Emily Pekham, made a solid save
shortly after on a partial break from Petrolia. #15

their dominance of the half keeping possession and sending
quality passes through to their strikers. Sarnia forward
#12 Maria Vani scored in the 18th and 20th
minute on assists from #20 Christina Vani and #8 Emily
Sparham. Sarnia’s defense played consistent throughout
highlighted by a break-away saving play from #18 Kelsy Ann

outside the box. Sarnia Spirit quickly responded with goals
in the 27th and 32nd minute scored by

similar to the 1st with the Sarnia Spirit
controlling much of the play. #15 Brittany Sefton scored in
the 50th minute on a good through ball from #4
Lauren Handy. 2nd half Goal-Keeper, #1 Kayla
Griffiths, played solid with quality position play and good
ball control within the area. The Spirit’s defensive line
and mid-field played an excellent match stopping most
attempts from Petrolia to get through to the net. The
