U13 Sarnia
Spirit Split the Season Opener Weekend
For
Sarnia’s season opener weekend, the girls were matched
against Norwest Shock (London) and Sault Ste. Marie Civics.
Sarnia split the weekend with a loss and a win.
On May
30th, Sarnia faced Norwest Shock. Sarnia had a solid first
half and held Norwest to 0-0 at half time. Late into the
game Norwest dominated and by the final whistle, Sarnia was
defeated 0-3.
During
the June 1st match against the Sault, Sarnia
controlled the game. Prior to half-time, Christine
Fleischer drilled a beautiful free kick deflecting off the
cross bar. Nicki Parkes found the loose ball for a quick
goal but it was ruled offside. The first official goal came
from a solid cross from Christine Fleischer to Chantel
Caraher. Chantel precisely managed the ball and cracked a
shot. Late in the 2nd half, Shelby Auterhoff
maneuvered the ball around Sault’s defenders to strike the
ball from outside the 18 yard box. The ball found the top
right corner of the net. In the second half, nice footwork
from Nicki Parkes led to a perfectly placed ball for the 3rd
goal of the game. The girls played exceptionally well as a
team and with solid defensive play, Sarnia Spirit took the
game 3-0.
U13
Spirit heads to Barrie June 6th weekend for the
