Home vs Tecumseh Warriors

Sarnia played Tecumseh Warriors on August 9th.  The girls had a great game with great passing and scoring opportunities.  Spirit dominated the game in all areas.  Sydney Mellon and Morgan Breeze each scored a goal to take a 2-1 win.

Away vs London United

Sarnia travelled to London on August 11 for their last away game.  London worked hard in the first half making Sarnia stay on top of their game.  London took the lead in the first half on a high looped shot from outside the 18 yard box.  Sarnia’s ability to keep possession of the ball slowly tired London.  Sarnia took control of the game halfway thru the first half and kept working hard to come back and win 4-1.  Hannah Kennedy scored 2 goals and singles came from Tori Taylor and Sydney Mellon.  Defensive play was at it’s best throughout the game.  A London parent commented at the end of the game that the Sarnia Spirit girls were the Detroit Red Wings of Soccer!

Sarnia is currently first place in the WOYSL.  The girls have two home games left to play in league.  Saturday, August 16th they will play the 2nd place team Waterloo Wild Cats in Sarnia at 11am.  Their final game will be on Saturday, August 23rd at 6pm vs Kitchener Spirit.

Labour Day weekend the team will compete in the Henderson tournament in London.

Their final game of the 2008 season will take place at Norm Perry Park in Sarnia.  They will take on the Lambton College Women’s Varsity Team on September 9th at 8:00pm.
