The Bluewater Lightning
faced off against the Sarnia Fury "B" team at Heritage
Park field and came away with a 3-1 victory. The
Lightning started strong and had numerous opportunities
right off the get go. Brendyn Hazlitt had a couple of
chances that he just put wide, as did Jack Bedard and
Jakeb Gray. The Fury caught the Lightning pressing and
scored on a breakaway when their goalie hit a long ball
to the forward who in turn beat Tracer Mackay with a
hard shot to the top of the net. The Lightning kept
pressing but could not beat the Fury goalkeeper. The
half-time score was Fury "B" - 1 and Bluewater - 0.
In the second half,
Bluewater again started strong and this time were
rewarded when Nicholas Iacobelli scored on a shot off
the left post and in. Nicholas scored again when he
received a nice pass from Daniel Wellington and Colin
Yazdani to make the score 2-1. Cameron Adam then made
it 3-1 when he scored on a hard shot from the slot to
the top of the net. Sweeper Aidan Manery and defenders
Zachary Matias and Taylor Iacobelli kept the Fury
players to the outside and held them to very few shots
on net.
The Fury put on a late
charge, but Mackay turned the shots away to preserve the
victory.
Here is our score from
the recent exhibition game vs Stratford Strikers (Sunday
June 14th):
The Bluewater Lightning
traveled to Stratford to take on the Stratford Strikers
in an Exhibition game and came away on the short end of
a 7-3 score.
The Lightning scored
first on a goal off a corner kick from Jack Bedard.
This was Jack's first goal of the year and it went
straight in off the corner. Burke Roszelle made a nice
pass up the field to Jack who then chipped it over the
goalie to make it 2-0. Stratford came storming back to
tie the game at 2-2 with 2 quick goals off rockets from
the slot that Tracer Mackay had very little chance at.
Jack then scored his second of the game when he curled
in a direct free kick from about 30 yards out.
Stratford then tied the game, just before half.
Stratford scored right
off the kick off which seemed to take the wind out of
the Lightning sails and they never seemed to regroup
after that. Stratford showed why they are a top notch
team as they made crisp passes and scored most of their
goals from the slot on deadly shooting. The Stratford
team had alot of bigger faster players and that seemed
to intimidate the Bluewater players. Bluewater stepped
it up a notch in the latter part of the second half, but
could not beat the goaltender. Overall, a decent
performance. |
