Bluewater Jr. Blaze U-13 vs.
Kitchener B August 9/09
Dark Storm clouds gathered
over the 401 as the Bluewater Jr. Blaze attempted to
extend their winning streak to 3.
Bluewater dominated the
early going, as Kitchener could not effectively clear
the ball.
Zach Horvath of the Blaze
passed to Richeal O誰eil. O誰eil beat two defenders and
the keeper to put Bluewater ahead early. The
Bluewater pressure continued. A pass from Marcus
Dusseault found Brandon Foster but the shot went wide.
Mitchell Leblanc痴 pass found Dilly Ohuegbe who was able
to race past a defender but the shot missed short side.
Garth Denys tried to increase the score with a header
that was turned away, the rebound found Ohuegbe but the
shot was pushed wide. Dylan Wardell fed a ball to
Ohuegbe and the striker was on a break away. The
Kitchener goalie challenged with an aggressive slide
tackle to nullify the chance. O誰eill won a ball and
crossed to Wardell but the winger could not get a head
on the chance and the score remained Bluewater by one.
The Blaze attack was
relentless. Foster was able to walk in but the keeper
turned him back. Denys attacked with a ball to Wardell.
Wardell tipped ahead to O誰eill who shot but again the
Kitchener goalie was there for the save.
The half ended 1-0 Blaze.
Bluewater knew a one goal
game could turn on one play and needed a cushion for
comfort. A Free Kick taken by Denys found Drew McFeggan
wide. McFeggan passed in to O誰eill who was allowed to
turn. A hard left footed shot pierced the net and
Bluewater now had a two goal lead. A hard foul on
Horvath was rewarded with a Free Kick to the Blaze.
O誰eill tired for the hat-trick but the keeper turned
the chance aside. Matthew Cservik worked hard to save
the ball to Ohuegbe. Dilly galloped in but a shot far
post just missed.
Kitchener could not
penetrate the defense of the Blaze and when they did
Josh Graham was there in the Blaze goal.
Graham made an easy save and
rolled the ball out to O誰eill. O誰eill carried and then
found Ohuegbe. A deft cross was finished by a charging
Wardell and the Blaze had a three goal advantage.
Matt Sheeler was able to win
the ball from a Kitchener player and send the ball down
the line. Ohuegbe raced to the ball and finished with a
low hard shot for a 4-0 lead.
The Blaze tried to increase
the lead when Ohuegbe flicked the ball ahead to Marcus
Dusseault. Dusseault broke in alone but his touch went
just wide of the goal.
Josh Graham was rewarded
with his first shut out of the season as the final
whistle blew on a 4-0 Victory. |
