Bluewater U-13 vs. Cambridge
July 18, 2009
Bluewater traveled to
Cambridge for a Saturday match up. Cambridge played and
effective off-side trap, which confused the Blaze
forwards. Five first half offside calls zapped the
offensive muster of Bluewater. Cambridge was able to
mount an attack just before half when their winger
dribbled down the right side and beat 3 Blaze defenders
for a 1-0 half time lead.
Cambridge continued to play
the trap in the second half and the Blaze were unable to
make adjustment to capitalize. Another 6 offsides
ensured no sustained Blaze pressure.
Cambridge iced the game in
he final 2 minutes when a shot from the left side goal
line drifted over Josh Graham and found the bottom
corner of the net.The Blaze went home with a 2-0 loss.
Bluwater Blaze U-13 vs. Waterloo
July 21, 2009
(game change from August 15)
A rare Tuesday night home
game pitted the Bluewater Blaze U-13 against Waterloo
FC.
The first minute saw
pressure by Bluewater. Richael O’Neill passed to Dilly
Ohuegbe who laid off to Marcus Dusseault. The midfielder
was in a good scoring position but his shot was high
over the bar.
Waterloo struck first and
quickly. A through ball caught the defense four astride
and flatfooted. The streaking striker made no mistake to
take the lead.
A mere 3 minutes later
Waterloo again connected when a corner kick found the
head of an unmarked player in front. 2-0 Waterloo.
Waterloo continued to win
challenges. An unmarked man in the 6-yard box blasted a
shot at Josh Graham in the Blaze goal. The Bluewater
keeper made a great athletic save but Waterloo was
awarded a corner kick. The ensuing corner was a reply of
the second goal and the Blaze went into the half down 3.
The Blaze tried to get back
into the game in the second half. Matt Cservik off the
bench found O’Neill but the keeper was there to make the
save.
Cservik again found O’Neill
who flicked on to Brandon Foster. A quick header looked
destined for the far post but a diving keeper stopped
the ball from crossing the line.
The Blaze teams confidence
was shaken as the game wore on. Waterloo completed the
scoring with a quickly taken spot kick before the Blaze
could set up a wall or mark properly. The result was a
disappointing 4-0 loss.
The Blaze look to regroup
Friday night against the undefeated London City Gunners
at home.
