On Tuesday night in Subway cup
action, Sarnia Produce faced a
depleted LanXess team under rainy
skies. Lanxess could only field
eight players making it very
difficult for fair competition.
Although the Azzurri came out strong
and forced most of the play,
shockingly it was LanXess who scored
first to take the early lead.
Eventually the huge advantage paid
off and Sarnia Produce got the
equalizer with a beautiful left
footed shot from Peter Nassiokas.
Produce continued to pressure with
numerous scoring chances however
great goaltending kept Lanxess in
check. Sarnia Produce found the net
four more times with goals from:
Lenny DeCarolis , Dino Decarolis,
Peter Tavabis and Mario DiDonato. An
injury to a Lanxess defender caused
the game to be called early. It was
a valiant effort on the Lanxess
squad!

On Thursday night in league play
,Sarnia Produce faced Paddy
Flaherty's at Norm Perry Park. Both
teams came out firing anxious for
the first goal and in the 10th min.
of action, Sarnia Produce was
awarded a penalty kick after Theo
Tsaprailis was taken down in the

finding the back of the net on a
perfectly placed shot. The goal
seemed to inspire Paddy's as they
continued to pressure in the
offensive zone. Both teams had
ample scoring chances and finally in
the 35th min. Paddy's was awarded a

punched out by Produce goaltender
Olindo DeSena only to be driven back
into the top of the net by a well
placed volley. Teams went into the
half tied at 1 - 1.
Sarnia Produce started the second
half more determined to take the
lead. In the 58th min. midfielder
Gus Tsaprailis darted past Flaherty
defenders receiving a beautiful
pass and finishing with a low shot
to the left corner of the goal. In
the 68th min. the Azzurri were given
a corner kick, taken by Peter
Tavabis, which found the foot of
striker Lenny DeCarolis on a perfect
finish. Paddy's kept coming and
scored late in the game on a corner
kick however it was not enough as
the Azzurri defence prevailed. With
the win Sarnia Produce takes over
top spot in the standings!
