Ontario Cup Master Division
Sarnia Produce Azzurri vs
Oakville Fine Home
July 4, 2009

Sarnia Produce Azzurri
Sarnia
Produce Azzurri met Oakville Fine Homes in opening
action of the Ontario Cup (Masters Division)
Saturday at Norm Perry Field. Sarnia Produce
represented the District of Lambton, Middlesex, and
Essex while Oakville represented the Toronto
District of Peel, Halton region.

Oakville came out strong in the opening minutes of
play with numerous scoring chances however Sarnia's
defence held firm with veteran goalie Olindo DeSena
Jr. making spectacular saves keep them off the
scoring sheet.
As the Azzurri
settled in they began to mount some offence and
opened the scoring with a beautiful placed left
footed shot by Theo Tsaprailis. The Oakville select
team seemed shocked and inspired to even the score.
With continued pressure they finally connected on a
beautiful cross and finish by Oakville striker
Hunter Madeley.
Sarnia Produce,
determined to regain the lead continued pressing of
their own in the Oakville end. They finally
were rewarded by a great goal from Striker Derek
DiMuzio who placed a perfect volley past Oakville's
goalie Carmine Isacco (former Canadian Olympic
goalie). The Oakville team were rewarded a penalty
kick as their striker was taken down in the 18 yard
box by Produce veteran sweeper Mario DiDonato. The
kick was converted as the teams went into the half
tied at 2 - 2 .
The second half showed a
more determined Oakville team who came out with
intense play looking to take the lead early. Sarnia
relegated to play defence most of the second half
however Oakville soon converted taking the 3-2
lead. Unsatisfied, the Toronto team forced play and
were rewarded with 2 late goals putting the game out
of reach. It was a valiant effort on Sarnia's part
who performed exceptionally well versus a select
Toronto team.
Final
score Oakville Fine Homes 5 - Sarnia Produce
Azzurri 2
The team looks forward to participating in next
years Cup!
