U8 Highlights from Aug 6th

Contro Valve (2) vs Tim Horton’s (1)

For Contro Valve: In the 1st half, Blake Hogan stole the ball off a defender and scored an unassisted single early in the game. Mann Shah carried the ball up the field and made a perfect crossing pass to Nicholas Chopp who scored with a fabulous left footed mid-air volley.  Carter DeSantis earned a shut-out in net.  In the 2nd half, the team continued to pressure the other side only to be denied by some great defending.  Michael Pugsley played great in net allowing only 1 goal to preserve the win.

For Tim's: Tim Hortons were slightly better off today, finally being able to field 1 substitute. Despite missing 4 key players, the team managed to pull off a remarkable job in containing the marauding Contro Valve attacks. Skillful plays in net by Cole Rogers and Brian Monteiro and tactical defensive plays by Seth Pynaert, Cole and Thomas Cardinal helped dull the multiple-pronged Contro Valve attacks. Time and again Tim's boys succeeded in mounting swift penetrating counter attacks, one of which resulted in a goal for Thomas from a timely and well placed cross from Cole playing in left wing. The result could easily have been a tie, but for a fumbling stop by the goalie to a powerful shot from Brian. Of special note in mid-field, was the deft passing skills on display by Mavi Deol, Blake Lindemann and Joel Curtis. The highlight of the game however, deserving special mention, has to be the excellent passing that the entire team put on show today, much to the delight of an appreciative parent gallery.
