July 27 SARNIA VS
PETROLIA

Sarnia traveled to Oil City to
take on the Petrolia Oil Barons. The two teams
had been struggling against each other for first
place all season long. With the anticipation
high, the Fury took to the field and ran a
faster game than their opponents. Petrolia,
however, plays a great passing game, and was
able to conserve energy by making long solid
passes to their teammates. This resulted in a
final score of 3 - 0 for Petrolia. This knocked
Sarnia out of first place, but put their
determination to regain the position to an even
higher level.
Better luck next time boys.
AUGUST 12TH SARNIA VS CHATHAM IN
CHATHAM

Determined to regain the title of
champions, Sarnia played a fierce game against
Chatham this Wednesday night. Both teams came out
running, chasing each other up and down the field.
It was exhausting just to watch the efforts of the
boys. By the end of the first half, the score was
set at 2 - 1 for Chatham. After speaking to the
kids during the break, Sarnia came back with fire
under their feet, scoring 5 more times to end the
game at 6 - 3 for the Fury. Here is a brief recap
of the event.
Corey Soden scored the first goal
from a shot fed by Nick Vozza. With nowhere to
turn, Corey sent it back to Nick, who sent it back
to a "better positioned" Corey. Corey then sunk it
past the keeper. Corey also scored the fourth goal,
repeatedly kicking towards the net. The ball ended
up bouncing off of a Chatham player, onto a sweet
spot in the grass, where Corey again managed to
cheat the keeper from a save. The second, fifth,
and sixth goals came from Spencer Charlton, who was
absolutely brilliant during the game. His first
opportunity came from a pass made by Trevor McEwan.
The next one was a feed from Spencer Gorman. The
last one was again assisted by Trevor, whose short
stature often hides the lightning speed and the
skill of his shots. Patrick Gagliardi scored the
third goal of the game, assisted by Nick Vozza.
Nick Speed only had to work to save
twelve shots, allowing only three to go in. Solid
effort Nick!!!!
Chatham worked very hard. They were
short handed and never gave up till the end. Way to
play with a positive attitude boys - you should be
quite proud of your team.
AUGUST 17TH SARNIA VS CHATHAM IN
CHATHAM
Sarnia traveled back to Chatham one
week later to play a make-up game from July. Again,
Sarnia came to win, giving Chatham little room to
score or steal the Fury Thunder. Chatham scored
once in each half, but Sarnia scored two goals in
the first half, and three in the second to end the
game at 5 - 2 for the Fury. Here is a brief recap
of the event.

First to score for Sarnia was Patrick
Gagliardi with a header straight to the top middle.
Next was Nick Vozza. During the second half Spencer
Charlton scored twice, once from an assist by Nick
Vozza, and the second one off an assist sent by
Tyler Vynckier. The last goal was again scored by
Patrick Gagliardi. There were great efforts made by
a number of the players. The defensive team worked
well to keep the ball away from Sarnia's keeper,
allowing Nick Speed to only have to worry about
seven shots on net, where only two managed to get
past everyone. Nick made an amazing leap through
the air to save a penalty shot, while all of the
spectators cheered. Sarnia's win clinched first
place, with no opportunity for any team to oust them
from it again.
Sarnia had just won the regular
league season!! WAY TO GO FURY!!
