Sarnia U10
Girls Win in Petrolia
Sarnia U10 travelled to Petrolia recently hoping for a
win to keep the pressure on League leaders Chatham.
The game started quite slow and Petrolia managed to test
Daphine Hibma early but were denied by a couple of nice
saves.
Sarnia managed to settle down and opened the scoring from a
nice defencive pass from Alexa Eldridge found Chloe Kennedy
in space to run in and score. Chloe added her second goal
with some nice work from Skylr Melton found Carmen Handy,
Carmens low hard cross was nicely converted by Chloe at the
near post. Sarnia now had alot of the pressure and Mickayla
Moses came close with a long drive hitting the cross bar.
Petrolia didn't give up and twice broke through the middle
but once again was stopped by Daphine Hibma in net.
Sarnia added a third with a great dangerous corner kick from
Carmen Handy which unfortunately for Petrolia was deflected
by their defender and went in. 3 - 0 Half with Daphine Hibma
deserving of the shutout.
2nd half again saw a lot of Sarnia pressure. Daphine Hibma,
now in defence came close with a long free kick. Then Morgan
Waggs found space wide left, cut inside the defender and hit
a low hard shot past the goalie to go 4 up. Skylr Melton,
working well on the right wing then had a couple of great
shots stopped by the Petrolia goalie. Mickayla Moses then
had a hard shot stopped before Carmen Handy curled a nice
low shot on the rebound. to go 5 up.
Madisyn Mika then won a hard tackle in defence and put a
nice through ball to Mickayla Moses who scored with the
shot. Petrolia pulled 1 back at the end with a nice shot
just lobbing Sarah McCormick in Sarnia's net. Final score 6
- 1 Sarnia. |
