Sarnia U10 Unlucky Against
Chatham
It was a battle for 1st place last Monday night
as Sarnia travelled to Chatham is Lambton Kent
District action.
Sarnia looked very determined in the 1st half
and nearly took the lead early when Alisha
Burnside had a shot tipped away on the goal lie
after a nice ball fro Chloe Kennedy. |
Sarnia again came close with Carmen Handy sending Chloe
Kennedy through on net but the shot was denied wth a great
save from Chatham's goalie.
Sarnia looked to be the better team and were rewarded when
Carmen Handy skipped past 2 players on the wing and scored
from a tight angled shot.
Chatham came back into the game and Morgan Waggs in Sarnia's
net made a series of excellent saves to keep Sarnia in the
lead. A great 1st half from Sarnia with some great defencive
play from Daphine Hibma , Alexa Eldridge and Madisyn Mika
and good ball movement from Sarah McCormick and Carmen Handy
in Midfield. 1- 0 Sarnia half.
2nd half was a different story. Chatham put the pressure on
Sarnia and from a corner kick Chatham tapped in to equalize.
They then scored a second 2 minutes later an in the space on
10 minutes Sarnia found themselves 3 - 1 down with a great
shot from out the box which Morgan Waggs in net had no
chance of getting. Sarnia puled themselves back into the
game. Sarah McCormick had a shot saved on the goal line and
Mickayla Moses broke through and was unlucky to shot wide.
Sarnia were then denied a clear penalty but the referee
somehow decided the hand ball was out the box.
The game was now going end to end and once again Morgan
Waggs pulled off a great save after Chatham broke through.
Sania fought hard to the end and in the last minue nearly
pulled one back after Chloe Kennedy out paced the defence
but Chatham 's goalie saved again to finish the game Chatham
