Sarnia Spirit U10 competed in their 1st ever tournament
on 6th -7th June in Strathroy.
They were seeded in Group A which gave them 3 tough games
against London NorWest, North London Wildcats And
Dorchester.
Sarnia opened with a very strong game against NorWest.
Sarnia had some great chances and managed to keep Pace with
the tournament favourites. Sarnia finished the game with a 2
- 1 loss. Sarnia lone goal coming from Chloe Kennedy.
Coach Mike Caron said "this was one of the best games the
girls had played this season."
Sarnia's next game was against the equally tough North
London Wildcats, knowing they needed a win to boost their
chances to qualify for the final. Unfortunately, Sarnia lost
2 - 0 .
Sunday's game saw Sarnia face Dorchester. From the start
Sarnia were determined to leave Strathroy with a win. Sarnia
finished the 1st half 0 - 0
With Morgan Waggs getting the shutout. Sarnia stepped it
up in the second half with some good efforts just going wide
of the net. With 5 minutes left, Sarah McCormick made a
great run down the left wide and sent the ball into the box.
After a scrabble for possession, Sydney Caron Sent a shot
high into the net for for Sarnia to finish 1 - 0 winners.
Daphine Hibma made some good saves for the second half
shutout.
Great effort from the girls in their 1st Tournament.
Never gave up for 1 minute, way to go!
