Sarnia Spirit U10 Win Season Opener
Sarnia Spirit opened the
season with a close win over the tough Chatham Attack.
Sarnia started the game well and went straight on the
attack. A hard shot from Chloe Kennedy went just by the post
followed by a great save from the Chatham goalie.
Against the run of play, Chatham managed to get in behind
the Sarnia defence and score to opener. Spirit then replied
quick with a great pass out of defence from Alexa Eldridge
found Mickayla Moses who turned, passed inside to Sarah
McCormick who slotted the ball home to level the game. One
last chance for Chatham before half was foiled with a great
stop from Morgan Waggs in the Sarnia net.
Half Time 1 - 1.
2nd half started with a very determined Sarnia team. Sarnia
pressed with good team work from Skylr Melton and Bianca
Sapone on the wings. Carmen Handy crossed in a great corner
kick won by Sydney Caron in the box. Sydney slotted the ball
to Chloe Kennedy who scored for Sarnia to take the lead.
With the game hanging on the edge, Mofoluke Obiri made a
nice wide pass to Julie Blanchette, Julie passed inside to
Mickayla Moses. Great pass from Mickayla found Carmen Handy
in space wide right. Carmen cut in towards goal and shot
hard past the Chatham goalie. Sarnia kept pushing with
Carmen causing more problems down the wing with a great
through ball to Mickayla Moses. Mickalya one on one with the
goalie, made no mistake and gave Sarnia a commanding 4 - 1
lead, Chatham did not give up. They pressed hard and replied
with 2 goals .
Sarnia's second half goalie Dalphine Hiba had some fine
saves along with great defensive play from Madisyn Mika,
Morgan Waggs, Alexa Eldridge and Mofoluke Obiri
helped secure Sarnia's 4 - 3 win in a nail biting finish.

Great win for the girls 1st ever League game, excellent team
work! Well done girls.
