Sarnia Spirit U10
Defeats Petrolia
Sarnia travelled to Petrolia last night for their 1st away
game of the season.
Petrolia started the game well with some early pressure
missing a couple of good chances. Sarnia began to settle and
take control of the game after taken the lead from a great
shot from Sarah McCormick high into the roof of the net.
Sarnia then stepped it with Chloe Kennedy hitting the bar,
then the post before finally hitting a low shot to make it 2
- 0. Another good pass to the back post from Carmen
Handy had Julie Blanchette tap in for 3 - 0.
As Sarnia kept up the pace, Bianca Sapone found space down
the left, a great cross found Mickayla Moses lobbing the
ball high past the goalie to add to the scoring. Mickayla
again had a good effort come off the bar with Sarah
McCormick hit the rebound just over. Chloe Kennedy added 2
more goals to complete her hat- trick, before Sydney Caron
stepped up with a powerful 20 yard strike to add yet another
for Sarnia. Chloe again unlucky hitting the bar, before
Mickayla found Skylr Melton at the back post to tap in for
her goal.
Second Half Sarnia tried to work hard on a more passing
game. Nice defensive pass from Mofoluke Obiri to Sydney
Caron. Sydney with a lot of space made a great run before
slipping the ball to Carmen Handy to score. Sarnia's coaches
changed things around. Morgan Waggs pushed forward and
scored with a low hard drive and Mofoluke Obiri added
another with a long range shot into the roof of the net.
Sarnia finished the game with a Morgan Waggs corner finding
Bianca Sapone to score and finish 13 - 0 to Sarnia.
At the other end of the park, Daphine Hibma and Madison Mika
were great in net and in defence to complete there 1st
competitive shutout, and were particularly helped by Alexa
Eldridge, Morgan Waggs and Mofoluke Obiri who all played a
solid game.
Well done girls!!!
