Semi- Finals

Sarnia
Spirit U11 girls play in the Challenge Cup Semi Final
game against the undefeated North London Super Sonics.
The Super Sonics have three goals against the entire
season. They only tied one game, and that was of course
against Sarnia.The Super
Sonics started the game with confidence, not giving
Sarnia a lot of room to make their plays. They created a
few chances before opening the score. A few minutes
later the Sarnia defence could not clear the ball far
enough, and the Super Sonics capitalized again.
This was the motivation Sarnia
needed. They came on strong and created some good
opportunities, but could not defeat the London keeper in
the first half. Sarnia started the second half the way
they ended the
first: strong and confident. Early
in the half a cross from Claire Vandenende was too much
for the keeper, who left a rebound for Katie Barwitzki
to find the back of the net. With only one goal
difference and about half an hour left to play, Sarnia's
hopes were high, and so was their playing. Fantastic
attitude, drive and determination was shown, however the
Super Sonics stood their ground. The final score was
Super Sonics 2, Sarnia 1. The season is over, but with a
solid second spot in the regular season, the team will
move up a level next year. We are very proud!
