The Sarnia Girls were coming into this game on a bit of a
losing skid and were looking to turn things around. The team
came out on fire, taking the play to Wallaceburg and
displaying tremendous offensive pressure in the 1st half.
Sarnia outshot Wallaceburg 8-0 in the half, and came away
with a 1-0 lead on a beautiful shot from 20 yards out by
Lipine Parsons, having first been centred on a lovely pass
from Naomi Parsons.
Wallaceburg came out strong in the 2nd half looking to
even things up, but the trio of Flora Richardson, Kier
Mackay and Karleen Long were determined not to let that
happen. Flora's quick, accurate throw-ins kept Sarnia on the
offensive, while Karleen and Kier took those throw-ins and
drove the Wallaceburg net aggressively. The few times Sarnia
had to play defense Claudia Font stood tall, blocking an
attempt and getting a shot on goal. Sarnia finished well
with Lauren Wilson scoring on a penalty kick and coming away
with a 2-0 victory.
