Sarnia Spirit (3) vs. NorWest Fury (0)
July 22, 2009
Sarnia travelled to London to meet with NorWest for their 2nd
meeting this season. Sarnia would strike first early in the
1st half but would come up short. NorWest
goalkeeper would deny Sarnia any chance of making it on the
scoreboard, at least in the 1st half.
Going into the 2nd half, the game remained
scoreless until Sarnia would find the back of the net with
some beautiful passing by Sarnia’s defenders and
midfielders. Katrina Fairbairn would catch the ball from
her midfielder, Allison Deery who then passed up to her
forward, Melissa Blair who would find Alicia DaSilva
charging towards the net. On an attempted scoring
opportunity by DaSilva, Lauren Holman was there to tap in
the rebound at the 9-minute mark. After 23 minutes of 2nd
half play, Kristi Pugsley would fire the ball up through the
NorWest defenders and the ball would connect with Alicia
DaSilva who would sail one into the far left side of the
net. Responding only 6 minutes later, Alicia DaSilva would
strike again off of a free kick off of a NorWest foul
sailing it over the head of the opposing goalie. Sarnia
would pt this one away by a score of 3-0. Danielle Graham
would earn her 2nd shutout of the season making
some very nice saves for Sarnia.
Sarnia Spirit (3) vs. Woodstock Spurs (0)
July 25, 2009
Sarnia hosted Woodstock on their home field Saturday
afternoon. Sarnia would strike first late in the 1st
half with only a minute left of play. Sarnia’s stopper, Amy
Elliott, would carry the ball up to the halfway line and
kicked it up through the centre of the field to find Shae
Colman out front of the opposition’s net putting away her
first goal of the season. Sydney Authier, Sarnia’s
goalkeeper, brought up for the U12 team did an awesome job
in net making many saves and handling the ball quite well.
In the 2nd half of play, around 17 minutes, Lilia
Pasqual strategically placed the ball just behind the Spurs’
defenders allowing Alicia DaSilva to capitalize on a kick
from the corner putting the score at 2-0. Responding only 2
minutes later, DaSilva crossed the ball out front to Allison
Deery who was able to tip a nice ball in the back of the
net. Sydney Authier would continue with her secure ball
handling skills to earn herself the shutout. |
