Bluewater Lightning U-10 Boys Soccer
The Bluewater Lightning U-10 Boys Soccer team finished off a perfect season in LKYSL action with a semi final win over Chatham (4-1) and winning the league final against Sarnia Fury Red (2-1). After going 15 – 0 during regular season play, the Lightning would finish off the year with 2 playoff wins to take the League Championship.
On August 16 at Suncor Field, the Lightning would have trouble getting their legs going against Chatham and fall behind in a game for the first time this season as Chatham scored the only goal of the 1st half to lead 1 – 0. Bluewater did generate several quality scoring chances, but could not find the finishing touch. The boys came out determined in the 2nd half, but it was not until midway through the half before the Lightning caught a break as a Chatham defender was called for a hand ball in the box and Dante Fuoco converted the penalty kick to tie the game at 1 – 1. From this point, Bluewater started to take control of the game as Tristan Haagsma found Lucas Ross in close and Ross scored what turned out to be the winning goal for a 2 -1 lead. Shortly after, Haagsma and Ross would work a nice give and go with Ross again converting for a 3 -1 lead. Chris Harwood would put the game away with a late goal for a final score of Bluewater 4, Chatham 1.
